A Maine summer home on Cranberry Island, completed in August, 2000
The client wanted a home which would belong in Maine, mixing traditional and modern elements. The wooded site has views of the waters of the Western Way and the mountains of Mt. Desert, plus a beautiful spruce grove.
Glacial rocks from the cellar excavation were used as landscape elements, and parts of an old pier became permanent lawn furniture.
The bedroom wing includes a guest room on the first floor, and master bedroom on the second, with a private half-round deck for each. The living room is double height, with the best views of the mountains framed in major windows. The kitchen and sun porch are all open to the living room.
The bedroom wing has half-round decks which give outdoor access to the master bedroom above and guest bedroom below.
